Steal like an Artist TED Talks

TED is a collection of probably the best short presentations on new ideas on the internet. 'Steal like an Artist' is one that will encourage you to go ahead and try and copy photos, paintings, journals and yearbooks that you see. As an art teacher I'm constantly trying to emphasize the importance of original idea and creative play to my students. That making a direct copy of someone else's work robs you of your creative potential and shuts the door to developing your style. Remember, taking chances can oftentimes turn into happy accidents!

That being said, it's impossible to ignore what has artistically come before, but to use it as a stepping stone on your journey, can take on an exciting new direction.
